HISTORY
In 1990 Keith Sipe started the Montana Rifleman as a gunsmith specializing in fixing firearms for the avid sportsman. Within the first three years he expanded into barrel manufacturing as he discovered a need for good hand made barrels. It was then that he expanded into making custom hunting rifles. However, soon after that, the supply of Mauser type actions began to disappear. During the mid 90's there was an apparent need for a product of this nature. With the major manufacturers of firearms not willing to produce an action for this market and the smaller firms and gunsmiths not able to produce them economically; an idea was created, and through years of planning, finally developed. In late 1999 Keith Sipe created Montana Rifle Company to produce an economically superior controlled round feed action.
The company changed ownership in January 2007 with the company going to Keith's son Jeff Sipe. Jeff has been involved with MRC since its inception and worked as MRC's Sales Manager 2003 to 2005 before taking a position with Kimber America. When Keith offered the opportunity for Jeff to take over at MRC, he knew it was the right decision.
